SUDH programme team visits Vinnytsia and Brovary

During the first months of 2020, the programme team will visit the cities subject to immediate development of pre-studies within the Sweden-Ukraine District Heating (SUDH) programme. Representatives from NEFCO together with the team of international consultants from Sweco, MDI and Teplotehnika started by visiting Vinnytsia and Brovary at the end of January.
“Vinnytsia is interested in keeping the district heating system and improving the quality of heating and hot water services while considering the environmental component,” said Vinnytsia city’s mayor Serhiy Morgunov in his welcoming remarks. Director of the DH company Vinnytsiamiskteploenergo, Sergiy Bulbas, emphasised the positive experience of collaborating with NEFCO on the district heating demonstration project within the DemoUkrainaDH programme during 2012-2015.
“We are very pleased to be selected for the SUDH programme. Brovary City Administration sees district heating as a strategic heat supply solution and will therefore fully support the project development,” said Brovary city’s mayor Igor Sapozhko. The director of the DH company Brovaryteplovodoenergia, Oksana Krasnoshchok, stressed the need to improve the district heating system’s reliability, phase out the use of gas and increase the quality of services for customers in Brovary. “The SUDH programme is a key financing instrument enabling us to implement such improvements in our system,” said Oksana Krasnoshchok.
“NEFCO and Sweden strongly believe in the need for projects to demonstrate modern district heating, providing quality services with a low environmental impact to customers in Ukraine. Both Vinnytsia and Brovary show strong commitment, and we are impressed to see the cities’ plans to ensure the development of district heating. We sincerely hope to implement projects in cooperation with both cities, in line with their plans and the priorities of the SUDH programme,” said Ronny Nilsson, Senior Adviser and SUDH Programme Manager at NEFCO, in connection with the visits.
Projects targeting system efficiency improvements and substitution of gas in the district heating fuel mix with renewable and waste heat sources are priorities for the new SUDH programme. At the current pre-feasibility study phase, the most important issue is to identify optimal project ideas that will be in line with both the cities’ strategic views and SUDH’s priorities.
