Olexandria becomes the first project to fully complete its loan obligations

The DemoUkrainaDH project in Olexandria was among the first projects in this programme.

The demonstration project comprised of installation of a new gas boiler 7.5 MW, replacement of about 1 km of district heating pipes and installation of a small CHP for generation of electricity for the purposes of the boiler house. This investment was projected to save 720,000 m³ gas per year (37% from the baseline), as well as electricity and heat, resulting in saving 1,380 tonnes of CO2 per year. The investment was estimated to have a pay-back time of 3.5 years only.

All materials and works were procured, installed and successfully commissioned by autumn 2015. After that, the DH company proceeded with its loan repayment. By December 2019, the full loan amount and associated borrowing costs have been fully repaid. Now the DH company has a modern system in operation which saves energy without any additional costs.

Olexandria is the first city within DemoUkrainaDH programme to fully complete its project and entirely fulfil its loan obligations.
