We are proud to announce that Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) started the active phase of Sweden-Ukraine District Heating Programme (SUDH).

The vision of the SUDH Programme is to support an energy-efficient district heating in Ukraine that delivers qualitative services with low environmental impact to its customers.

To achieve this in practice, NEFCO engaged a team of Swedish and Ukrainian consulting and engineering firms:

  • Sweco was founded in 1889 and is Europe’s leading provider of knowledge and consulting services in the fields of engineering, environmental technology and architecture. Sweco experience in Nordic District Heating technology is over 30 years. Sweco in Ukraine conducted its first assignment in 1999. Since then, there Sweco has 50 ongoing or completed projects, vast majority of which in the thermal energy sector (energy efficiency and district heating). Find out more about Sweco here.
  • Municipal Development Institute (MDI) is the Ukrainian consultant in the field of sustainable municipal and local development. MDI was established in 2004. In the field of district heating in Ukraine, MDI operates both on local and national levels. MDI supports municipal district heating companies with their investment efforts as well as is engaged in national programs aiming at improvement of the sector and methodological review.   • Group of companies “Teplotekhnika” has been working for over 20 years in the heating sector of Ukraine. The first company of the Group was founded in 1996. Teplotehnika’s engineering team shares a deep experience in modern design techniques modern technologies for energy efficiency of buildings, heat supply networks, individual heat substations and boiler houses.

The Kick-off meeting of the SUDH team took place in Kyiv on 25-26 May 2019. It was an introductory meeting where the SUDH team got aligned regarding project efforts, expectations and responsibilities. For the first month, SUDH team will be in the inception phase of programme planning and preparations for the upcoming work.

We are excited for the next three years of interesting and challenging work with the municipalities of Ukraine to demonstrate the most modern and efficient technologies in Ukrainian district heating systems.
